The Story of Triadic Dualism |
||||
| With the awakening of humanity a change occurred in the nature of being. For the countless generations before time each creature live in the world but did not intentionally change the world, except in a personal and private way, building nests or dens. Now being is no longer preset but is also created as we live and think it.
Consider the circle. Circles appear in nature: the full moon and the sun seen through mist, the irises and pupils of eyes in some species, notably humans, the spreading circlets of rain on still waters. While not a large part of the natural world, circular images are there. But can we concieve of any animal we know that would have recognized the conept of circle? The circle appeared in time, somewhere in the course of human development. Perhaps in an instant of sudden recognition or otherwise in a gradual coming into focus. The circle, or at least the concept of circle, was once not in being but now it is. To continue in a geometric vein, many other forms have been recognized or created by human thought: curvilinear, polygonal and polyhedral forms since classical times, on up to fractals, catastrophe folds and chaotic structures in the last half century. It may seem that the simple forms are those which have long been known while what is left for our age are the more complicated and difficult recognitions. But this is not entirely true. There is another simple form, or rather type of form, which I recognized in about 1970, while pusuing other studies. Like the circle, it occurs in nature, especially in the human body, but is much more prevalent in artifact and design. It has been around for a long time, used in art and construction since primitive days but was never before recognized as a separate concept. I have named it triadic dualism. |
